How is news videos sent to a news station?

Does anyone know how a report or any other news or broadcasting material is sent from different places to a tv stations main location.

For example if i am a correspondent in Afghanistan, and there is a suicide bombing, how do i send that video or report back to london, because sending it via the Internet would take hours.

What is a VPN?

VPN is (Virtual Private Network) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips).
